Year 4 Potter and Potions Day

Today, Year 4 have had an exciting start to their 'Potions' topic. Dressed to impress, they entered the school in their Harry Potter themed costumes and took part in four workshops throughout the day. Fizzy potions were mixed, magical wizards hats crafted, 'Riddikulus'-style fears conquered and new Hogwarts houses created. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and are looking forward to the rest of the topic this half term. We thank them for their enthusiasm today and your efforts in making their fantastic costumes.

A STUPENDOUS SUMMER FAYRE!

We would like to thank everyone that came along to our Summer Fayre last week.  There was once again an amazing turnout which just shows us what an wonderfully supportive community we have here at Wood Field.  The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) would like to thank all teachers and Year 3 pupils that manned some of the stalls during the day, and lastly, as a whole staff we would particularly like to thank our wonderful PSA who once again outdid themselves by not only organising an outstanding event, but also running the large majority of the stalls and sourcing some of the very best raffle prizes we have seen at a school fayre!

We have just received an email from Margaret Bent, Chair of the PSA detailing the final figure for the profit for the Summer Fayre - £6707

Carshalton, Beddington & Wallington Primary Schools' Sports Association District Sports Athletics - 14th June

Last Wednesday, a team of 42 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children competed at the District Sports Athletics competition at the David Weir Sports Centre. This competition was against lots of different schools from our half of the borough in sprinting and relay events. The sprints (over 100m, with a 200m distance for Year 6!) and the relays (all the way round the 400m track in teams of 4) counted towards the schools' points, while there were also throwing and jumping events to try if the children wanted to. We particularly enjoyed the long jump! The children were well behaved and supportive of each other all afternoon, despite the heat! Lots of children managed to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their sprint heat whilst the Year 6 boys relay did particularly well. Ewan, Jake, Cam, Jayden and Keiran managed to win the overall final for the Year 6 boys and were awarded with a large shield! They were a particularly strong team and a special mention must go to Ewan who allowed Keiran to run in the final event, in order to share the award with him too. Well done boys and well done also to all of the rest of the children who competed.

Miss Jackson and Miss Doak (and thank you to Miss Beckford for the organisation!)
