Netball High 5 tournament - London Youth Games!

On Thursday 22nd March, seven Year 5 and 6 pupils from Bandon Hill (Izzy, Riley, Eve, Neve, Claudee, Karis and Fin) represented Sutton at the London Youth Games Spring Finals at Crystal Palace Sports Centre.

The children met Miss Baker and Miss Jackson nice and early in order to travel to Crystal Palace by train. Once there, we were entertained by the opening ceremony before moving out to the netball courts.

In the morning, the children played four matches - they won two, and lost one. We then had a break for lunch before the afternoon games. In the afternoon, we were put into the top half of the draw which meant we played against some really tough schools! Despite this, the children continued to play really well as a team and supported each other throughout. We even had some compliments about their fantastic efforts from other teachers, as well as from some of the England umpires!

The children were superbly behaved all day and it was a pleasure to take them - they all represented Bandon Hill and Sutton extremely well!

Netball match v Amy Johnson

A team - won 6-1

A fantastic way to bounce back after Wednesday's defeat! The whole team played exceptionally well in this match and attacked for nearly all of it. There was lots of good communication and passing and the shooting was fantastic! Player of the match was a very easy choice - it goes to Neve for scoring all but one of the goals and playing with such a big grin on her face! This is the last league match this year and we are now awaiting the results to see if we made the finals. There is also the Saturday tournament to come.

B team - lost 8-2

This was a tough match for the B team, who played their match against quite a few of Amy J's A team! Despite this, they worked hard for the whole of the match and managed to score two good goals. Player of the match goes to Erin who played very well across different positions. This is the last match for the B team as they do not progress to finals or represent at the tournament. However, with many of the team being Year 5, many should still be playing netball for Bandon Hill next year!

Special visitors!

The Reception children have absolutely loved watching some chicks hatch this week. The children have been talking about the chicks non-stop and have been making some fantastic observations. They have thought about the life cycle of a chick and how they should care for them. This is a fantastic memorable experience for the children.
