Netball match v Holy Trinity
A team: won 5-2
On Thursday 16th November, we hosted Holy Trinity in our latest netball match. In the A team game, the girls played fantastically right from the beginning, with it being 1-1 at half time. During the break, we had a quick chat about not panicking and moving more into space - and the difference in the second half was amazing! Miss Jackson and Miss Baker thoroughly enjoyed just watching the game, having very little to remind the girls about - there was so much good play and communication. The final score was 5-2 - a special mention must go to the shooters (Neve and Izabelle) who were amazing and worked so hard as a team to get those goals! Finally, player of the match is Frankie, whose defending and confidence is getting stronger every week! The team: Frankie, Neve, Izabelle, Eve, Claudee, Karis and Rianna.
B team: won 3-1
The B team also had a fantastic game and are becoming such confident players - with lots of communication as well! They passed the ball well throughout the game and worked hard to win it back when the other team were in possession. A special mention goes to Elsie, our player of the week, who scored all three goals and very nearly scored about 3 more! Her movement around the D was fantastic - well done. The rest of the team was: Amelia, Ruby, Lola J, Erin, Livvy C, Olivia MH, Heidi and Hannah.
Sport Bronze Award winners
New for this year, Bandon Hill Meadow Field children are now beginning to have represented the school enough times in sporting events (matches, tournaments, friendlies etc) to receive their Bronze award. Representing the school five times in sport means the children are awarded a certificate in Friday's assembly, along with their name on the Sports Board! Well done to our first Bronze winners: Fin, Riley, Karis, Eve, Claudee, John, Billy, Ruby, Elsie and Amelia. There are also lots more children not far off receiving this award!
Netball match v St Elphege's
We welcomed the St Elphege's netball team to Bandon Hill on the 1st of November for our second league match this year. In the A team, the girls had been warned about the strict umpiring but they were ready to go and played well right from the start. Bandon Hill were leading 2-0 until just before half time, when St Elphege's managed two great goals for the score to be all equal at 2-2. The girls were given a bit of a pep talk and went back out on court really fighting for the ball and working so well as a team to get the ball to the shooters. Everyone played their part in the second half, with the scores remaining close throughout. With a few minutes left, Bandon Hill scored to make it 5-4, which is how the game finished. This was a fantastic result against very good opposition! Player of the match goes to Neve for her excellent movement around the circle and accurate shooting throughout. The team: Neve, Izzy, Karis, Claudee, Riana, Frankie, Eve.
In the B team game, the girls continue to develop their understanding of netball throughout each match. There was plenty of excellent teamwork, as well as some great shooting too! The girls communicated well throughout the game and used their speed to get away from their markers on more than one occasion. Their confidence and ease on court is growing with every game - keep it up! Player of the match is Ruby for her fantastic encouragement of team mates, as well as lots of brilliant running. The team: Ruby, Hannah, Olivia MH, Livvy C, Amelia, Elsie, Erin, Lola A and Heidi.
