There are a wide range of social and emotional difficulties which may lead to children becoming withdrawn or isolated, as well as displaying disruptive or disturbing behaviour. These behaviours may reflect underlying health difficulties such as anxiety/depression, self-harming, eating disorders or physical symptoms that are medically unexplained. Other children may have disorders such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) or attachment disorder.

Zones of Regulation is an approach that is used in every class at Bandon Hill. There are four coloured zones which children can use to describe how they are feeling. Each zone has different suggested activities which you can do to help regulate your feelings, or children can come up with their own.
A board game to encourage children to consider their different emotions, and times they have felt certain ways. It will help your children see that emotions are normal if you play this with them and open up about times you have felt certain ways.
A place where children can write about their moods- this easy format makes it simple for children to express their moods in both the home and school environment. This format allows other people to quickly glance and pick up any developing patterns.
These strange round creatures often change how they look to show how they are feeling! They can change colour several times a day as their moods change. This is a great resource in allowing children to pinpoint their different moods.
